PS CS6-Bridge-ACR vs Lightroom Classic

There has been a lot of discussion about different RAW converters of late.  I am considering moving over to LrC from DxO.  I just want to make sure I understand the process of saving images from LrC to my external hard drive before doing this.

When I open a RAW file (CR2) in PS CS6, it opens in Bridge first where I can edit the image(s) and have the option of saving them as a jepg, tiff, digital negative, or psd file to my external hard drive.  I have my own folder and file system and this works well for me.  Additionally, the RAW file is saved back to its original location with a "side car" file wherein if I open it again in Bridge, the adjustments are shown.  I'd like to retain these options.

If I do decide to use LrC (Bridge and ACR included), are these options still available to me?  I dont want to use the LrC catalog system and like the workflow and options I have with PS CS6.  I'd appreciate a better understanding of how saving files in LrC works.

Thanks

Yes, your workflow is still totally legit and supported in the current versions. It is possible to fully ignore all flavors of Lightroom and only use Bridge and ACR with sidecars.

If you don't want to use the LR catalogue system DO NOT USE Lightroom.  You need to work with the catalogue not against it if you use LR.  Trying to work against the catalogue in LR will just cause frustration.

However you can still use Bridge, ACR, and Photoshop and ignore LR if you want to.
