Micro Four Thirds Talk Forum
Back in November I was in the Canary Islands with the new G9M2 and my existing PL 12-60.
I've only just got round to looking at these photos and I'm seeing something I haven't noticed previously with this lens. I've always considered my copy of this lens as excellent.
There is weird blurring towards the bottom right in particular, almost like camera shake. The symptom is common across so many pictures to eliminate shake, focus etc. I have a feeling it it is worse at higher zoom towards 60mm, and possibly with wider aperatures.
I've done some quick tests at home pointing out the window using the same lens on the G9M2 and GX9 and also between the 12-60 and my 14-140 to eliminalte camera/lens.
I used IS on and off, camera on and off tripod, 2 second delay etc. Only electronic shutter so far. Tests seem to point to the PL 12-60 lens as the common factor but I need to do more rigorous testing as well as analyse my back catalogue.
Hopefully it isn't a problem with the new G9M2!
Here are some jpegs from RAW via lightroom (first has limited processing and the others are straight from RAW). Pretty rubbish photos in the first place but they do show the problem. Look down towards the bottom right at 100% - it gets worse nearer the corner.
So questions
- What do you think this is - decentering or something else?
- What is the best kind of test I can do to narrow it down?
