The 500 comes in two versions the 520 (2 million pixel CCD) and the 560 (3 x 2 million pixel CCD's - 6 million pixels total). The 500 series is based on the Canon EOS-1N body with Kodak's digital back, processing unit and expanded feature set.
Rumoured "in-the-pipeline" are future CCD upgrades which would allow you to upgrade your camera to 2, 2.5 or 4 megapixels when the technology becomes available at a fraction of the cost.
The Sony Mavica FD-91 is at the top of Sony's Mavica range of cameras (if you ignore the DSC-D700). Looking like something from a 1970's future technology magazine it's certainly not the best looking of Sony's range, but how it takes photographs is of course more important.
The Canon PowerShot Pro 70 (referred to as the Pro70 from now onwards) is probably one of the second most eagerly awaited new arrivals of early 1999 along with the Sony DSC-D700 which is seen by many as its main rival.
